The Sound of Godbreakers

In this talk, Daniel Rosenqvist and Anton Dromberg discuss their work as Audio Director and composers on the rogue-action game Godbreakers.

The game features a range of distinct biomes, each with its own strong visual identity, something that directly shaped the musical direction. Every biome has its own melodic theme, instrumentation, and dynamic, interactive score that evolves throughout the stages and ultimately reaches its climax in each biome’s boss fight.

For Godbreakers, Anton and Daniel collaborated with world-class musicians including Tony Levin (Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel), Morgan Ågren (Frank Zappa), Per Nilsson (Scar Symmetry, Meshuggah), as well as the Stockholm Studio Orchestra. In the talk, they explain how they worked with the musicians’ improvisations and how these performances influenced and colored the final arrangements.

The seminar also covers practical and technical topics such as game music mixing, surround mixing, and interactive composition for games.
